We’ve told you the story of Jay Z’s Tidal app and just how much Mumford and Sons hates it. After its lavish, star-studded launch and with its backing from the likes of Kanye, Madonna, Chris Martin and Beyoncé, it should be 1 x awesome app.
Well, it has barely turned one month old and already Tidal has dropped out of Apple’s Top 700 chart. Where did the excitement go?
This ranking means there are 700 apps out there better than Tidal. It means that Tidal is actually worse than Candy Crush and that we’re all clearly happy using Spotify.
The app has suffered from mixed messages following its launch. Despite claiming to pay artists better royalties than existing services, the abundance of pop megastars used to promote it prompted confusion as to why they deserved even more cash.
It’s been a tremulous start for the app, which saw its CEO replaced just last week.
I’ll bet this is all because no one can listen to Mumford and Sons.
