A guy we know who knows a guy who knows a guy knows this guy, Luke, who likes sky diving. He was out in Robertson over the weekend doing a pretty normal jump when things got a bit exciting.
As he pulled his chute, the force caused his helmet to fall off and Luke had to watch in misery as the helmet, with his GoPro attached, no less, fall to the ground. This makes for some pretty cool video because, believe it or not, the helmet landed in a grassy patch in a built up area and was perfectly fine.
Now for the good part… It was picked up by a few locals having a jol, and with the camera still running, we can all watch them trying to work out what it is exactly. You need to really set this scene in your head to appreciate what happens: Imagine there was a camera attached to the coke bottle in The Gods Must Be Crazy. That’s what this would have been like.
Luke eventually found his GoPro, but had to pay R1 000 to get it back… only in South Africa…
