You know when you have had a long boozy lunch and you get home and curl up on the couch in the afternoon sunshine and have a little nap, then wake up all relaxed and somewhat dazed? This is absolutely not what this guy did yesterday, mainly because he decided to have a nap in the cargo hold of an airplane and that never ends well for anyone.

An Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to LA had to make an emergency landing yesterday when the pilots and passengers heard frantic screaming coming from the cargo hold some ten minutes into the flight. The plane had to go back to Seattle as the pilot “reported hearing banging from beneath the aircraft”.

I think we’re hearing a noise from the baggage compartment. Might be a person in there, so we’re going to have to come back around.

The pilot had to declare an “emergency for priority landing”.

Luckily for the man in the cargo hold he was in the pressurised and temperature-controlled section up front and upon landing walked out of the plane. He explained to authorities that he had fallen asleep.

There are some places where you just do not have a cat nap, and this is one of them.
