Imagine walking out of a department store with your trolley full of treasures and suddenly you’re in the middle of a massive brawl in the car park. This kind of stuff is few and far between in sunny South Africa, but we all know that ‘Merica has plenty of these types of stories.
Obviously the scene was in an Arizona Walmart parking lot, which pretty much sums up the type of people involved (don’t lie – I know you’ve scrolled through ‘People of Walmart‘). The people involved? A large family from Idaho on an outing, a few police officers and a Walmart employee.
The policemen went up to the eight-member Graver family to question them about the “alleged assault of a Walmart employee who was going into the store bathroom”.
On the video, an officer tells the group that they “need to separate these folks and talk to them.” Someone then responds, “No, you are not going to separate me from my parents,” and, “don’t touch me.”
Cue instant chaos, where, in seconds, one of the officers is in a headlock and then knocked to the ground. The police then used pepper spray and a Taser.
…at least three shots were fired in an apparent struggle for an officer’s gun.
One of the members of the family was shot and killed, another shot in the stomach, and one of the police officers shot in the leg. Four of the family members have been charged with assault, and two minors are currently in a juvenile detention facility.
Some family members are part of a Christian band called “Matthew 24 Now” and wait for it… wait for it…
The family was living out of its Chevy Suburban.
We’re done here.
