All together now, and to the tune of The Real Slim Shady – ‘Guess who’s back, back again’ – the Clintons are making another play for the White House.
This time it’s Hillary Clinton, who yesterday announced her 2016 presidential bid. Above you can see her campaign video, put together to show just how relatable she is to the average American of course. The video comes with the tagline ‘Hillary’s running for president because everyday Americans need a champion—and she wants to be that champion’.
White House incumbent Barack Obama has put his support behind Hilary, with Mashable quoting him here:
She was an outstanding secretary of state. She is my friend,” Obama said. “I think she would be an excellent president. And I’m not on the ballot.
The video was met with mixed reactions, although one YouTube commenter summed it up pretty well.
Hillary’s campaign logo was also not spared the wrath of the Twitterati, with it’s somewhat simple design being the butt of many jokes.
Here’s Mashable again, summing up their take on the logo debate:
Regardless of how Clinton’s critics feel, though, they’ll have to get used to seeing more of the logo, which will presumably accompany her into 2016. The former first lady, senator and secretary of state’s campaign has only just begun.
Yeah, get used to it people. As with all American political campaigns we are set to see inordinate amounts of money (seriously, Obama and Mitt Romney both exceeded $1 billion for their 2012 campaigns) spent on getting someone into office who claims to represent the ‘average American’.
