There’s something about listening to music you can relate to that helps those tracks hit home. That, and music that actually takes some skill to create is a bonus.
If you’re a fan of bluegrass / folk / blues you may have heard of A Devil Makes Three, a three-piece outfit hailing from Santa Cruz, California. I’m not going to claim that I knew them way back before they became popular (I didn’t), but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy them even if we’re a little late to the party.
The song above, ‘Old Number 7’, comes from the band’s eponymous first album and sings the praises of a certain whiskey we’re known to be rather fond of. You know, the goodness that is Jack Daniel’s. Here’s the bit that got our heads bopping:
Thank you Jack Daniel’s Old Number Seven
Tennessee Whiskey got me drinking in heaven
Up here the bottle never runs dry
And you never wake up with those tears in your eyes
Here’s to the whiskey that makes us frisky.
