There’s nothing like a dash of humour to soften the blows of a shite situation. It might be too soon to start making jokes about Rhodes et al, but it is most certainly not too soon to make light of Zimbabwe. Yes, it’s nothing new. We’ve been making fun of Mugabe and his cronies for years. Remember a few months ago when the stairs and carpet moved from under his feet and the memes that surfaced? Beautiful.
Then, on Bob’s most recent visit to SA (this week, in fact!) he gave us this:
Wonderful!
But some brave souls have been on the game for a few years now with their YouTube channel “Zambezi News“.
Zambezi News is the satirical comedy series that has taken Zimbabwe and abroad by storm. A parody of a typical Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation news programme, Zambezi News satirizes the relentless propaganda and astounding journalistic ineptitude on state TV. The Zimbabwe-made show features the comical news presenters Mandape Mandape, Jerome Weathers and Kudzaishe Mushayahembe. The three presenters are in a constant battle for dominance of the show while they haphazardly present the news live in studio and cut away to ludicrous news reports, spoof music videos and cheeky adverts.
The good news is they have made it all the way to CNN
With three seasons under their belts, there is clearly no stopping them. To brighten your day, we have popped in a few of their videos for you, but you can give yourself a “Zambezi News” marathon on the weekend via their YouTube channel.
