Right, kids. Here’s a little “how to” fashion piece regarding how to wear your colourful socks this winter so that your wardrobe doesn’t have to consist solely of black and grey. We’re going to give the men a push first, because we all know how you blokes love to heed advice and there’s no point in making you read all the ladies’ stuff (which, when it comes to fashion and style tips can go on and on and on…)
So, gentlemen, we give you: How To Style Your Sexy Socks
We get it – you’ve worn your navy suits and matching socks to the office for years now. Suddenly, you want to bring in a pop of colour, but you’re slightly afraid your boss is going to go all Ted Hendricks on you. That’s cool. Just start slowly. The genius guys at Practically Standard say “go classic”. What does that mean? They suggest sticking to classic stripes in “blue tones or argyle in muted, non-brown, tones”. Look, if you’re going full colour, I don’t see why you have to stick to stripes. Be bold and add in some circles…
Once you have mastered the addition of colour to your life, you can start getting bolder. Use a contrasting colour to really make your outfit pop.
Example: if you are wearing black slacks and a pale blue shirt, don’t wear brown argyle socks. But – do wear blue & pink socks.
Once you are completely comfy with what are you do sock-wise, you can start adding in little details…

And now for the ladies.

A fun pair of socks can truly be the cherry on top for an outfit. This is the best time of year to play around with socks – it’s not cold enough yet to lock away the dresses and heels but the chilly evenings can still nip at your ankles. Pop on a pair of socks and have some fun. I found this loafer and sock combination with an overcoat and think it’s especially lovely:
And, quite frankly, if Alexa Chung is showing her socks off, so should you.
Thank goodness Sexy Socks has the most delicious socks to choose from.
