There you are Whatsapping away, filling each other’s screens with all the LOLs and emoticons your heart can muster, when suddenly you have the urge to engage in an actual spoken conversation with the person on the other side of your, like, amazingly hilarious conversation. What to do?
Well good news those of you using Whatsapp on Android, you can now use the free calling feature. This from Forbes:
This makes WhatsApp more competitive against services like Skype, Viber and iMessage/FaceTime. The calling feature on WhatsApp launched for Android last month in beta to a small number of users, followed by availability on an invitation-only basis. Now voice calling is available for every WhatsApp user on Android…
When someone calls you from WhatsApp, you will see an incoming WhatsApp call screen. You will be able to tap and slide the green button to answer the call or slide the red button to decline the call. Otherwise, you can tap on the message icon on the call screen to decline the call with a quick message.
Great news for some, bad news for those who use Whatsapp as a convenient way to avoid talking to people they find highly annoying.
