Look, I know we don’t have porn channels on our TV’s here in SA like they do in the UK and US, but that doesn’t mean when visiting the US you get to rack up a porn TV bill of R125 000.
Lehlogonolo Masoga, the deputy speaker in the Limpopo legislature, managed to do just that though in August last year. And whilst we all know Vodacom loves to charge for data (as do the other mobile companies in SA) this is taking it a bit too far. We all know who ultimately pays for these things…
He is alleged to have run up the huge tab while watching porn on his official cellphone while paying data roaming charges.
But Masoga is denying the huge bill, saying that the EFF is running a “smear campaign anchored on a cheap, beer-talk conspiracy to rubbish Masoga’s name”.
I reject with contempt the malicious, libellous and defamatory allegations levelled against me by some not-so-faceless conspirators to injure my integrity for cheap political motives.
Masoga and Malema used to be buddies but had a falling out.
To deepen the story, Maite Toona, the supply chain manager at the legislature who brought the phone bill to question, has been suspended. The Public Protector is now probing the matter, and the DA intends to pursue the matter.
