Remember way back when before people made fun of hipsters? We would never do such a thing of course (like HERE or HERE), but it seems nowadays the word ‘vintage’ has come to be associated with peddling around on your 1940’s bike with a typewriter in the front basket. Enough of that, let’s enjoy those old-school delights as they were meant to be enjoyed without fear of ridicule.
Well here’s some really good news lovers of all things vintage. Get ready to loosen up your funky old-school purse strings because the Vintage Fashion Expo is back in Cape Town this weekend (28 and 29 March) and can be found at the German Club in Gardens between 10AM and 5PM.
Hosted by vintage market curator The Vintage Experience, the March 2015 edition will see aficionados and bargain hunters treated to the ultimate old-school shopping and entertainment extravaganza.
Shoppers can browse up to 40 stalls selling one-of-a-kind vintage, retro, thrift and vintage-inspired pieces as well as stalls trading vinyls and décor items. Guests will enjoy live music, burlesque performances, vintage fashion shows, flapper dance lessons and more. For the foodies an al fresco food court, featuring Cape Town’s favourite food trucks, will feed hungry shoppers and the venue will be operating two bars.
Now the good news for you guys and girls out there is that we have a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky reader. All you have to do is take a photo of your favourite vintage item and post it in our comments section. The winner will be announced tomorrow lunch-time.
We will also accept Polaroid pictures although you’re probably best dropping those off in person wearing the item on your pic, we might even throw in a Red Bull and a Cocofina for good measure.
If you’re not lucky enough to win the tickets head over HERE and get yours online. You could also risk buying at the door but tickets are limited so booking early is recommended.
