Well if the SAPS and NPA can’t nail this case down we really are in a pretty sorry state.
If you’ve been following the van Breda axe murder case you will know a number of things by now; Henri’s wounds were self-inflicted, the axe was sharpened before use and the surviving children are set to inherit in the vicinity of R200 million.
Now when that is laid out alongside Henri’s drug habit and the delay in police being called on the night of the crime it begins to paint a pretty clear picture. Enter this latest bit of information then, where a cellphone present at the scene of the crime was found to have a search history which included information on axe murders. This from News24:
It was not said whose cellphone it was but it was found that someone had searched for information on the axe attack of Peter and Joan Portco in the US. The Portco’s son, Christopher, who was 21 at the time, was found guilty of the second-degree murder of Peter and of leaving his mother severely disfigured.
Now neither the NPA nor the SAPS have not confirmed these claims but surely there is enough evidence now to move forward on this case? Perhaps they are waiting for Marli to recount her version of events but the longer the wait the more damning the evidence becomes.
