What exactly is going on with the amount of commercial plane crashes we are seeing these days? Granted there are more flights daily than we can fathom but of late there have been far too many accounts of air travel gone wrong.
The latest plane down is an Airbus A320 flying from Barcelona to Dusseldorf with low-cost German airline Germanwings, a division of Lufthansa. This from Sky News:
France’s interior ministry says debris from the airliner has been found near a village in the region.
A total of 142 passengers, two pilots and four cabin crew, were on board the plane, according to aviation officials cited the local La Provence newspaper.
Lufthansa has yet to confirm the crash but other news outlets carry some pretty definite information. This from RT:
The plane crash in the French Alps was confirmed by General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The jet crashed in the Upper Bléone Valley, Le Provence wrote. Emergency services are currently heading to the disaster zone.
No doubt details will emerge as the day rolls on but for now we don’t know a great deal. Not to be highly insensitive but at least they know the location of this crash, something the families of those victims of MH370 cannot lay claim to (despite the various theories that abound).
