I don’t profess to know a great deal about Islam but I have always had an inkling that burning one in a Muslim country would be a move fraught with much danger. This video of a woman in Afghanistan being beaten to death is some rather concrete evidence of this.

In the centre of Kabul a woman accused of burning the holy text was mercilessly beaten to death by a mob with pieces of wood and bricks. That wasn’t enough to satisfy their anger, so they then set the woman’s body on fire and dumped it in the river.

So what made this woman do such a thing? The Daily Mail reports:

…her devastated parents have told Kabul police that their daughter had suffered with mental illness for many years and that she had not meant to burn Islam’s holy book.

Now when it comes to angry mobs it is difficult to get any point across but let’s hope these monsters are brought to justice for what is a despicable act of public brutality. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior confirmed that four suspects have been arrested.

They say two wrongs don’t make a right but you might be inclined to sway a little on that point in this case.
