Settle in guys and girls, the above video is just the right length to get comfy and look like you’re doing some work whilst whiling away your Tuesday.
Monday saw Vice News release their interview with President Barack Obama, and anyone who is familiar with Vice knows they generally take a keen interest in drug policy. No surprises then when Obama was put on the spot regarding his recent statements about the legalisation of weed. Yes, they did ask him about foreign policy and global warming but we’ll get to that later.
Here’s Gawker quoting Obama:
First of all it shouldn’t be young people’s biggest priority. Let’s put it in perspective. Young people, I understand this is important to you. But you should be thinking about climate change, the economy, jobs. War and peace. Maybe way at the bottom you should be thinking about marijuana…
I’d separate out the issue of decriminalization of marijuana from encouraging its use…
At a certain point, if enough states end up decriminalizing, then Congress may then reschedule.
He also launched a scathing attack on the Republican party members who authored an open letter to Iranian leaders urging them to dismiss dealings with Obama as his nuclear deals may be annulled when he leaves office. Vice quoting here:
I’m embarrassed for them. For them to address a letter to the ayatollah — the supreme leader of Iran, who they claim is our mortal enemy — and their basic argument to them is: don’t deal with our president, because you can’t trust him to follow through on an agreement… That’s close to unprecedented.
Well said señor, although until someone starts bashing someone else with a hard hat your government will forever be less interesting than ours.
