We all know the grumbling that goes on every time Facebook change their layout. People moan for days and then all is forgotten as they go back to stalking their ex and spying on the one that got away.
Now when Facebook releases their updated rules people really tend to get stuck in. By now we all know everything we do online echoes for eternity, but just what kind of images are acceptable to line your wall with? We’re going to break it down courtesy of Sky:
Nudity – Banned: Explicit images of sexual intercourse, images of genitals, “fully exposed buttocks”, digitally created nudity, and descriptions of sexual acts “that go into vivid detail”.
Good news, you can still get away with breastfeeding pics as long as you are ‘actively engaged’.
Hate speech – Banned: Direct attacks on people based on their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
How to bypass this? You can still share someone else’s hate speech as long as it is for the purpose of educating others.
Violence and Graphic Content – Banned: Graphic images when they are shared for “sadistic pleasure or to celebrate or glorify violence”.
You may still post these images if it is for the purpose of raising awareness of human rights abuses or terrorism.
Self injury – Banned: Images or information promoting self-injury, eating disorders or suicide.
Users will still be allowed to post suicide information as well as body modification images.
Direct threats – Facebook says it evaluates threats based on their credibility – looking at things such as a person’s physical location.
Now we’re going to be a little cheeky and show you some NOT suitable for work pics that you CAN get away with posting. The guys at Gawker obviously had a good laugh putting these together then…
Digitally created image for humorous purposes you see…
Again, humorous purposes. If donkeys with raging hardons is what makes you ROFL then so be it.
Why the blur? Facebook will remove any picture of genitals on display or focusing in on buttocks. Just a wee bit of burring and you’re in the clear.
Of course Facebook can’t always be on top of everything that is posted and we have seen videos of beheadings and other foul deeds slipping through the net. Then again, moderators probably have their hands full with all those sordid images of women feeding their own children where a smidge of areola is visible. Priorities y’all…
