Feel it, it is here.
In what has to be the best bit of movie-hype we have seen around these parts in quite some time, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson took to the runways of Paris Fashion Week to announce that there will be a Zoolander 2. Onlookers at the Valentino show got more than they bargained for when Derek and Hansel strutted their stuff, putting on their best schmodel faces and finishing with a jacket-dropping flourish.
So what where they wearing? Nothing from Mugatu unfortunately, but eonline carries this:
Stiller, as Derek, wore a custom Night Butterflies brocade suit with hand-embroidered overcoat and black Creeper shoes. Wilson, as Hansel, modeled a Silk Continent print Pajama suit with Double Cashmere overcoat and Open sneakers.
Now anyone who has seen Dumb and Dumber Too will know that sometimes when you leave a sequel too long it really can turn into a festering pile of turd, but the basic story behind Derek and Hansel’s return to the big screen sounds like it could deliver a winner. eonline quoting Stiller here:
In the fashion world, if you go away for a year, it’s changed—it just happens so quickly. I think the idea in the beginning of the movie is that it’s 10 years later, and Derek and Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody remembers who they are, so they have to reinvent themselves.
Don’t get too excited though, the movie is only due to hit screens in the US on February 12, 2016. In the mean time enjoy these Instagram snaps from the event.
Any bulimics out there who can read screenplay writer Justin Theroux’s mind and get us an inside scoop?
