Has anyone noticed how much darker it is in the mornings? That you have had to pop on a pair of slippers whilst applying your make-up/hair wax? It’s just that little bit harder to wake up for work or gym or to get the kids up for school. It’s terrible. It’s also why we need to tackle the topic of winter. I am not happy to use this word this early in the year as we have barely had a summer, but Mother Nature is forcing it on me.
Right. Winter. It gets chilly in South Africa. Have you spent a night in my grandmother’s Joburg apartment in July? It would be strange if you had, so I need to tell you that it is colder than the water in Noordhoek. That Joburg cold gets right down to your bones.
The incessant rain in Cape Town gets a lot of people down. The Mother City goes into hibernation. We stay home and cook gourmet meals for friends and then spend weekend mornings snuggling in bed.
I’m not even going to explain the coldness that is Sutherland. You all know. This is why, for the duration of winter, you may as well spend a bit of money so that you will be warm. Think of it as gathering acorns like a squirrel does.
I’m a firm believer of The Goose Down Duvet. If I could gather them like acorns and cover my house in them, I would. If you have never experienced The Goose Down Duvet, then I feel sorry for you. You should have made more of an effort to enjoy life. Remember, you’re going to spend about half of it in your bed, sleeping, so it may as well be one of the most invested and valued things you own.
Here’s your chance, kids.
