Paris Fashion Week has inundated my Instagram feed for the past few days – cue booking a flight to any city in the world that has more shops than Cape Town because I threw out my entire wardrobe. My goodness the clothes are beautiful and I’m filled with ideas.
Anyway, everyone generally posts to social media in good taste, but there will obviously be the odd faux pas, like Princess Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis.
Lis is the style editor-at-large for Vogue magazine. Born in Germany and now living in London, the 32-year old caused a bit of a stir on Saturday.
She posted this image to her Instagram: it’s a Parisian bergie reading Vogue. Her caption?
“Paris is full of surprises…and @voguemagazine readers even in unexpected corners!”
I don’t really see the offence in this, but, according to most of the world, it is offensive. Before deleting the post, Lis posted “Why cruel? The person to me is as dignified as anyone else!”
She has since apologised.
Personally, I would happily read Vogue anywhere, anytime, even if it was a hand-me-down. It’s a good magazine.
