Remember when we did the SEX TAPE give away? That awesome vibe is BACK!!!
We always like it when someone who hails from our own shores hits the big time, and with the release of his 3rd blockbuster movie Chappie on March 13th, Jozi-born director Neill Blomkamp has well and truly made his mark.
With a stellar cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver and Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel, the movie also reunites Blomkamp with another local star Sharlto Copley, who provides the voice for Chappie. It’s also the film debut for zef-hop duo Die Antwoord who want to use Chappie for their own dubious purposes and teach him how to be a true gangster.
What’s the movie all about?
The movie’s set in the not-so-distant future, where crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force known as Scouts. They can’t be reasoned with, they can’t be negotiated with and they can’t be swayed. When one police droid, Chappie is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. Chappie is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any ‘child’, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But that’s a dangerous idea – and it’s a challenge that will pit Chappie against powerful, destructive forces that would ensure that he is the last of his kind.
We’re pretty darn excited to see Chappie and are lucky enough to have a special screening of it that we’d like you to come along to on Monday 9th March, at 8pm at the SterKinekor Cavendish in Cape Town. To get your hands on a pair of tickets, send a tweet to @2oceansvibe with your name and partner’s name – accompanied by a short quote you would want to say in a movie. Use #2ovC.
You’ll get a reply from @2oceansvibe if you have won.
The screening starts at 8PM and your name will be on a list at the cinema.
Tickets are ONLY valid for this one-off screening and will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis so be quick or you’ll miss out. We’ll inform the lucky people that get tickets by midday on Friday March 6.
