Look, we all despise sitting in morning and evening traffic. It is a total time-waster and that time could be spent doing a trillion other things, like buying loo paper or cleaning out the fridge. If any of you have been nice enough to drop a mate at the airport on a weekday morning for their very inconvenient 9am flight, you will know that sitting on the N2 inbound at 8am is a near death experience. In fact, I sometimes think I would rather die than ever sit in that traffic.
The worst part is watching all the taxis race along the carpool lane. Even with a carpool lane, the cars are backed up (that’s because Cape Town only has two major roads).
I digress.
Let’s chat about this clever man from Long Island.
He needed to get to work on time and was running late, so he made a faux passenger out of wood and dressed him in a hoodie and then used the Long Island Expressway’s HOV lane.
It all came to a close when he was pulled over for speeding, and the officer asked for the passengers ID.
Awkward.
“I was trying not to laugh at the guy because I thought it was quite silly,” said officer Jonathan Abrams.
At least the officer seemed to have a good sense of humour. The driver drove away with a speeding ticket and an occupancy violation.
