They say the bond between siblings can never be broken, spanning time and space. Sometimes, though, the sister you thought you had lost forever ends up being in the same school as you which makes reuniting a broken family just that bit easier.
A Cape Town family who had their baby daughter stolen from Groote Schuur Hospital 17 years ago finally received the good news they had never given up on. DNA tests confirmed that Zephany Nurse was indeed the long-lost infant. TimesLive carries this:
The breakthrough came when the physical resemblance between Zephany and her younger sister Cassidy, 13, was noticed by pupils at the school they both attended.
The girls spoke to each other and Cassidy told her parents about her new friend. When Morne met Zephany, he became suspicious and phoned the police.
A woman has been arrested in connection with the 1997 baby theft and may be charged with kidnapping, fraud and contravening the Children’s Act.
17 years of sibling rivalry missed out on. I expect there to be plenty of scuffles and name-calling within a week.
