Look he’s not ‘headlining’ in the traditional sense, but the fact that he his celebrating his 80th birthday will certainly capture the bulk of the ‘headlines.’ Now that the headlines of him being bounced from SA have subsided.
According to Telegraph:
The Dalai Lama is to mark his forthcoming 80th birthday by making an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday, as part of a brief tour of the UK.
The announcement by his staff had been rumoured but was nevertheless unexpected, not least by festival-goers who will otherwise be watching sets by Paul Weller and the Jam, Patti Smith and the Irish indie rock band Hozier.
The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the world’s Tibetan Buddhists and a thorn in the side of the Chinese People’s Republic, will be spreading his religious message as part of a three-day trip to Britain.
“The key themes throughout this visit will be the promotion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message of compassion, non-violence and the oneness of humanity,” Wangdue Tsering, secretary of the Office of Tibet in London said.
