I love a good ghost story surrounded by mystery. Call it my over-active imagination or growing up as an only child, who knows. All I know is that I love the little shiver that goes down my spine.
Two 12-year old school girls on a class trip may have caught a ghost on their iPhone recently. They were at Hampton Court in the UK and quite possibly have proof of the ghost of Dame Sybil Penn, AKA The Grey Lady. She was the nurse of Prince Edward and also nursed Elizabeth I through smallpox, dying in 1562 after also contracting the disease.
What do you think?
According to the girls they had no idea what was going on as they only looked at their photos later in the day.
With flowing dark hair and a full length black gown the woman seems real enough in the picture. But seconds later Brook [one of the girls] turns around and the next image in the series shows no sign of the visitor at all.
People have commented on The Daily Mail post saying that it could be a panorama photo gone wrong, whilst others argue it could be a good Photoshop effort.
Hampton Court is known for its ghosts, though.
Sightings of her ghost began to be reported in 1829 when the church at the palace was rebuilt and her tomb moved. Soon after strange noises of a person working a spinning wheel were apparently heard through a wall at Hampton Court.
Henry the VIII’s fifth wife Catherine Howard is also said to roam the halls. She was beheaded in 1541 at her husband’s order.
