If you’re one of those people who believe processed sugars are mini-reincarnations of Lucifer himself, then you probably enjoy a spot of honey from time to time. Yes, natural sweeteners are just that little bit easier on the palate.
Beekeepers the world over have long since realised the financial benefits of the syrupy amber nectar, but the process of extracting the honey has often been laborious and harmful to the beehive.
Enter these fair dinkum Aussies who took a break from throwing another shrimp on the barbie to design this bee-friendly contraption (other than the fact that it rapes the beehive of its most precious commodity). Mashable carries the story:
Father and son duo Stuart and Cedar Anderson have created a contraption that allows for honey on tap straight from the backyard hive.
The Flow Hive is billed as “a revolution” — because it allows for beekeepers to extract honey without opening the hive or disturbing the bees…
This is a far cry from the more mainstream method of dressing like a spaceman, sedating the bees with a smoker and cracking open the hive.
Watch the video above for the full lowdown on how the Flow Hive works and get your daily dose of Australian accent too. Yeah mate, this new invention is set to go off like a frog in a sock…bloody oath.
