Red carpet interviews can go one of two ways: Hollywood superstar can twirl in her beautiful designer gown, drop the name of the designer and where the jewellery is from, and compliment Ryan Seacrest or Giuliana Rancic on how skinny they are looking. Or, as happened here, the brief interview can turn into a mound of awkwardness rivalling the parent-daughter birds and bees chat.
Take Melanie Griffith and her daughter Dakota Johnson. Dakota brought her mum along as her date for The Academy Awards on Sunday and this interview quickly became awfully cringeworthy.
Melanie and Dakota end up having a small argument on camera about whether or not Mel is going to watch 50 Shades of Grey. Watch as Dakota eventually loses it and snaps at her mum.
Let’s not even start talking about how ABC’s Lara Spencer (who was interviewing) called Dakota “little girl”…
