It has been almost a month since the horrific attack at De Zalze Estate in Stellenbosch, and not much progress has been made.
Marli is still in hospital, although she is finally out of the ICU section. She has still not seen her brother (for fear she might go into shock, or will be traumatised further) or spoken about what happened that night, and police are starting to fear that “she may not recover enough to give a detailed and credible account of the night of the attack”.
Whilst she is awake, she has not yet spoken about anything, and has “mumbled and cried” when looking at photos of her family.
Police are relying heavily on forensic evidence thus far, but due to police backlog, it looks like it could take months.
