Once in a while an amazing collectors item pops up. More often than not it’s a pile of paintings by someone famous but dead, that has been missing since the turn of the previous century.
This time round, it is Steve McQueen’s canary yellow 1915 Cyclone motorbike.
Yeah I bet you like that, don’t you. And you can purchase this vintage hunk a’metal too, if you have a minimum of £500 000 in your pocket. Or you can get a slightly more affordable (and no doubt, more reliable) PX 150 original Vespa, if two-wheelers are your thang.
Steve McQueen was known for his love of motorbikes, and this was one of his great items.
It was bought in 1984 by an avid collector of motorbikes from Steve’s collection. EJ Cole, who managed to get hold of it, now wants to sell it (he is 89 and is probably not ever going to ride it, let’s be honest).
It will go on auction in Las Vegas on March 20th.
