It’s common knowledge that properties on Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard pull in big numbers for rentals over season – some as high as R50,000 a day for a 2/3 week stint over New Year. One house, however, towers above the rest..
A source close to Enigma, a palatial property in the exclusive wind-free Camps Bay ‘Glen’ area, says it’s not just the rentals that pull in income, but shoots as well.
Enigma is often used for short-term rentals to discerning clients and charges between R50,000 and R100,000 a day.
But it’s not just rentals and high-end events that pull in the numbers, but also (mainly) shoots – usually for international brands and feature films/TV series. The property, which is owned by a business (available to acquire, should you be interested), has so many different features and highlights, that almost any scene can be created.
Enigma gets an annual return of about R6 million from the combined income streams garnered through the property. It’s impressive, to say the least.
Impressive, indeed! Especially when you hear that the likes of Formula 1’s Eddie Jordan was seen living it up at Enigma mansion this December.
And with a price tag of just EUR 12.5 million, ‘SA’s Ultimate Trophy Home – according to the Financial Times) ‘ will be making someone else a lot of money very soon.
