First-world for the win, folks. If you are a fan of pedal power transport and are tired of chaining your bike to the nearest pole then get ready to become strangely aroused.
We know Japan is one of the most technologically advanced countries around but this really does remind me of something out of ‘The Matrix’. Mashable reports:
…the Eco Cycle Anti-Seismic Underground Bicycle Park can hold up to 204 standard bicycles and can park a bike in 13 seconds. It is operated using a card system and costs 1 800 yen (about U.S. $15 a month), which is a lot cheaper than the cost of a stolen bike.
Let’s not get our hopes up, I don’t really see this hitting our shores any time soon. Besides, the underground park would probably be stripped bare of every valuable part within weeks…once all the bikes were nicked.
