Lying can be a dangerous and expensive game. The consequences of each little fib can reach far beyond having to repair your fire-damaged pants, and Lance Armstrong is still finding that out the hard way.
The disgraced former champion cyclist made a whole whack of cash from his seven Tour de France victories and he is now having to #paybackthemoney. This from USA Today:
In a 2-1 decision, the [arbitration] panel ordered the disgraced cyclist to pay the money [$10 million] to SCA Promotions, a Dallas sports insurance company that paid Armstrong’s bonuses for winning the Tour de France…
Armstrong bare-face lied any number of times over the years but the one that is landing him in the most shizz is his lying under oath in 2005, which is perjury in its purest form. The chickens are now coming home to roost and they are not proving cheap. It seems Lance’s bank account faces another battering in the near future, with USA Today reporting as follows:
[Lance] is defending himself against the federal government in another fraud lawsuit that could cost him nearly $100 million.
We should not forget that this guy raised around $500 million for cancer research so it’s not like he should be hanged, drawn and quartered. That being said, the conviction with which he lied to the world needs to be made an example of and the bank balance is one place people stand up and take notice.
