Look, we’re all talking about last night and how ashamed we are and #CryTheBelovedCountry and it is horrendous what happened. We’re going to hear a lot about it for the next few days – and we are going to make it easy for you to see all the videos and catch all the great things that were said.
Here we give you the DA walking out of parliament.
I don’t want to get into a massive debate about it all, but was the DA right to walk out? I know it was chaos and no one knew if there were SAPS present or not, but should we have disrespected the president (no matter how terrible he might be) by walking out of parliament?
The whole thing started when the EFF was removed from the House, and DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane asked the speaker “if police were used, and threatened to leave if the question wasn’t answered”.
To remove the members of the EFF… if by police… I request we cannot allow police to enter this chamber.
The National Council of Provinces chairwoman Thandi Modise then said she “could not pick out who were police officers and who were not in the group who removed the [EFF]”.
