The quality of the camera on the new iPhone 6 is actually rather scary. Slow-mos, motion stabiliser, this little ripper has it all. Why then when anyone sees a UFO or Bigfoot do they insist on grabbing the worst possible camera within a 500 metre radius to film it? It might be because they are more than likely inbred hillbillies but we digress from the matter at hand.
Filmmakers in New York City have now taken to filming short movies solely on the iPhone 6, using add-ons like lenses and app software to capture some breathtaking footage.
Tristan Pope has just completed the short film Romance in NYC, shot entirely on an iPhone 6, and the results make for fine viewing. This from Mashable:
The smaller physique of the iPhone made it an ideal choice because it allowed the director to stay close with the actress and to capture the essence of “being there,” he said. “I wanted to show the world how anyone with a camera phone these days can capture the most intimate moments beautifully.”
Pope used the MoviePro app, Joby Gorillapod and a Redicam mount to make his 17-minute masterpiece. You can see him recount the process in the above video.
Of course we have our own budding bunch of filmmakers right here at home, and whilst coffing out the dosh for those professional fancy-pants cameras will set you back a whole whack why not follow Tristan’s example? Digicape offer fantastic value on iPhone 6 deals as well as the accessories needed to take Hollywood by storm.
I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we see a full-length feature film shot with an iPhone. Now all you need to do is ask that mate of yours who once met Charlize Theron if he can make a few calls…
