I am really struggling to believe the regularity with which people are getting shot and killed by police in the USA at present. I’m sure it’s not a new scenario, it’s just that with the eyes of the world watching we are seeing more coming to light, coupled with the fact that most phones can now film the shit going down.
So today brings another video of police opening fire on a man, later identified as 35-year-old Antonio Zambrano-Montes, in Washington. The police were made aware of a man threatening the public, with Buzzfeed reporting as follows:
During the altercation, Zambrano-Montes threw rocks at the officers, “including one at least about soft ball-sized,” Metzger said. The rocks hit two of the officers.
After police failed to subdue Zambrano-Montes, they opened fire.
Zambrano-Montes died at the scene.
Now correct me if I’m coming across as daft here but does a man throwing rocks, soft-ball sized or otherwise, warrant THREE police officers unleashing a volley of bullets? Not for me, popo, you have some serious questions to answer.
The three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. I feel like one good look at this video is really all that is needed.
