I am tempted to call this the feel-good story of the day but a kitten might save a man from a burning tree later so I will show some restraint.
It seems some museums and theme parks in the USA are growing disillusioned with selfie-stick waving narcissists flooding through their doors and have resorted to taking action. The result is a ban on the use of the extendable poles inside their gates, with a slew of institutions citing concerns over both the safety and conservation of valuable art pieces.
This from TimesLive:
The [Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden] is the latest to ban the mobile phone accessory. Other major institutions include the National Gallery of Art, New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, the Getty Center in Los Angeles and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
Make it rain guys. It turns out some theme parks are considering following suit as well due to thrill-seekers attempting to film themselves on a variety of rides. No longer content to actually enjoy the ride patrons now deem it necessary to film themselves during the whole process. Go ahead, upload it to YouTube, we can’t wait to see your shaky footage of your faux-terrified face.
At least the above cretins haven’t taken it to THIS LEVEL, and for that we remain thankful.
