Every time a new bit of information comes to light regarding the De Zalze axe murders, I cringe. It doesn’t bear thinking about what the three van Breda’s who passed away and daughter Marli must have seen that morning.

We brought you THIS UPDATE yesterday which doesn’t paint the surviving son Henri in the best light, but police have remained very mum on their investigations.

Well, in breaking news it appears the axe used was actually taken to a shop before the incident, which could prove vital in ascertaining the identity of the murderer. This from News24:

…police are searching for the shop where the murder weapon – an axe – was bought. It is believed the axe was then sharpened before the incident.

Although details remain sketchy about where the police are in terms of making an arrest, it seems they do have someone in mind. News24 again:

A police source told Die Son that an arrest could take place soon, and there is already talk of making a deal with prosecutors whereby the suspect would be admitted to a psychiatric hospital as a state patient.

We’ll let you fill in the gaps. It seems with each new development the crosshairs are pointed more convincingly at a certain young man. Tick tock.
