Sometimes we find the ways businesses advertise themselves more than a little strange. We’re not talking about some of the shocking adverts we are forced to endure day in and day out, but rather the strategy behind some of their big ad spends.
Take for example this advert gracing the front page of TimesLive today, which couldn’t have been cheap. What you want then is something that grabs people’s attention. They click, your ad is a success. But exactly who is the face in this Anglo Amierican ad? Do we know who this man is? Are we supposed to? Help us out with a name here, guys…
Our snooping has proved unsuccessful but our interest is piqued. We know estate agents make a habit out of plastering their faces everywhere but we would expect something in the way of an explanation below this picture. This is Mr X, he is Y at Anglo.. You get the point.
I’m struggling to think of the last time I saw a man’s face displayed so prominently without explanation when the face in question isn’t immediately recognisable.
And if he DOES happen to be ‘someone’ – perhaps they should re-look their strategy and realize that his face is not as well known as they (he?) might think..
