And the plot thickens (or, really, what everyone was thinking is quite possibly coming true).
The police investigation revealed that the official police injury form completed by the doctor who examined Henri after the murders states that the scratches and bruises on his arms were “self-inflicted”.
A doctor has told the Sunday Times that Henri’s bruises and scratches were self-inflicted, and that Henri may have delayed calling emergency services. According to reports, Henri only called paramedics at 7:30am, but it looks as though the attack actually took place around 3:00am.
Marli is still in hospital, under police guard, and is finally awake and starting to talk, although her neck and jaw are severely injured. Only doctors and nurses are allowed to see her as they do not want her influenced by anyone before she gives a statement to the police. Nurses have put photos of the family in her room, but there are apparently no pictures of Henri.
More reports have surfaced that Henri spent some time “at an exclusive mental health and drug rehabilitation centre in Loevenstein, Bellville”.
In the meantime, a “top” legal team is being put together for Henri. The children’s uncle, André van Breda, is still looking after Henri.
“I promised Henri I won’t drop him,” said André. “We as the family are Henri’s backup and we will support him.”
This is like the new Oscar trial – completely captivating.
