And the government is off to a good start for 2015. I swear, at the rate they go, we should get a horse race commentator into the office to do some sort of narrative.
Brenda Madumise, chairperson of the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) has been out on a leave of absence after it was alleged that she “received cash from Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir”.
Niiiiiice.
In an affidavit dated April 16 2011, Madumise admits she received R1-million in cash from Krejcir [back in 2009] who, in exchange, allegedly expected to have his asylum application fast-tracked.
Well that has taken some time…
Insisting that the funds were not for her, Madumise said they were “meant to be a donation”.
If information had been made available to me that the funds were meant to be part of any corrupt or opaque deal, I would have rejected the funds. I only acted in terms of the information that the money was a donation
In the meantime, Abbey Chikane will take the reigns as caretaker chairperson.
