Squirrels can be a little scary at times. I once saw a rabid beast in Company Gardens with ‘tik-eyes’ running in circles and foaming a bit at the mouth. Me thinks he had found a little parcel under one of the benches or nibbled on a used light bulb.
A few critters in Croydon, South London, seem to have developed a slightly more expensive habit…for the driver of a Toyota Aygo. Tony Steeles has claimed that local squirrels have been feasting on the eco-friendly plastics used on the vehicle as part of their drive to become more green. This from the Daily Mail:
The aerial’s been chewed off twice, the oxygen sensor’s been damaged and various rubber-like trim parts have been chewed and damaged…
The car’s been back for repairs four or five times.
Toyota have called the problem ‘unusual’, although Tony’s local dealership have been kind enough to pay for the repairs each time he returns with more nibbles missing. He has since swapped his wheels for a Toyota Yaris.
He has taken to storing his car in the garage overnight to ensure his furry foes stay well away from the tastier bits. It seems the term eco-friendly may have been pushed a little far with the Aygo.
If you’re looking for a tasty car for all the right reasons you need to check out MINI‘s new 5-Door model. This little ripper packs plenty of punch for its size and is safe for use around animals, even that mate of yours who likes one drink too many.
