When you are trying to name your baby girl Nutella, however, you may have taken things a little too far. Nutella is of course that delicious hazelnut chocolate spread you fork out for once in while when you want to treat yourself.
A court in France has prevented a couple naming their daughter after the spread, ruling that the name would make her the target for bullying. This from BBC:
French parents are usually free to choose the names of their children, but local prosecutors are empowered to report what they deem to be unsuitable names to a family court.
We must agree with the French court’s ruling here. I can only imagine the ridicule we would have given a kid named ‘Black Cat’ or ‘Melrose’. We’ll let you come up with your own puns there, work it.
