There have been plenty of heart-breaking stories regarding plane crashes of late. It makes a pleasant change, then, to see a potential disaster averted and something of a happy ending.
This taken from DC Newsroom:
The pilot of a single engine Cirrus SR-22 aircraft that ran out of fuel is safe after ditching his aircraft 253 miles north of Maui, Hawaii, on Sunday.
The pilot was able to deploy the aircraft’s parachute system and safely exit the aircraft into a lifeboat.
He was then collected by a passing ship and hauled aboard. We imagine he would have put back a few toots to soothe the nerves, and with good cause.
