Honestly, sometimes I want to do this to half of the people in Cape Town. You know the ones: They triple book themselves so they can choose at the last minute what they feel like doing. Meanwhile, you’re stuck with a booking for ten people at Koi and have to explain to them at 19h55 that your table for 20h00 is now only six people. It’s like a near death experience for me. I absolutely hate it.
Which is why I completely applaud what these parents did to the parents of a kid who didn’t arrive at their son’s birthday party – they sent a bill for £15.95 for leaving them “out of pocket”.
Let’s explain:
Alex was invited to his friends fifth birthday party. His parents RSVP’d on his behalf. But Alex didn’t end up going to the party because his parents sent him to his grandparents instead. Alex’s parents failed to tell the birthday boy’s parents that Alex would not be attending. The birthday, meanwhile, was being held at the Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre, which I assume has a fee for its usage per person.
When Alex didn’t rock up, the host parents lost their cool.
Mr and Ms Lawrence are now taking Alex’s parents, Mr and Mrs Nash, to the small claims court. Over £15.95 …
