It’s rather shocking that it took a whole 11 days for there to be a mall robbery in the greater Cape Town area, but, lo and behold, it has finally happened.
Blue Route was targeted again (one of the mobile phone shops was hit last year) with “several armed men” entering Harris & D’Arcy Jewellers and using hammers to break the glass display cabinets.
People in the mall said the breaking glass sounded like gunshots, and the staff were reported as being quite traumatised.
The men fled the mall in fancy pants cars (a Merc, Audi and Golf 6) with an undisclosed amount of jewels, but a staff member said they went for the expensive stuff.
This all happened in broad daylight, mind you, much like all the other robberies of 2014.
