Being such a man of the people, our beloved JZ will fund efforts to improve the existing translation of the Bible into isiZulu.
Together with the Roman Catholic Church, the JG Zuma Foundation will look to update the translation, done by the Bible Society in 1959.
“As a speaker of isiZulu, President Zuma has long felt that the existing isiZulu translation of the Scriptures is inadequate and a new version will now be directly translated from Biblical languages, such as Hebrew and Aramaic, straight into isiZulu…
This work will culminate in a more relevant Zulu Bible, which is considered a critical evangelisation tool for both worshippers and scholars,” the foundation said.”
Zuma will hand over a R500 000 cheque in Durban on Sunday. We wait to see whether the new translation will include such updates as the need for lavish cinemas and fire pools in the abode. Perhaps we may see the ten commandments whittled down to nine, because that “thou shalt not steal” one is clearly outdated and holds no place in the upper echelons of government.
Also, if it’s funded with taxpayers money, can we request a sentence here or there or must one be in governance first?
