Even the best of us get mistaken for something we’re not. I like being mistaken for a famous person, and I know friends who have played along for hours pretending to be someone else.
President Obama and his wife can’t play that game anymore, but back in their day they had their fair share.
Speaking with People magazine, Obama said how “There’s no black male my age, who’s a professional, who hasn’t come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn’t hand them their car keys”. Awesome. Go ‘Merica.
Michelle said that once, when she was in a Target, a fellow customer came up to her and asked her for help (bear in mind this happened whilst she is the First Lady).
Do people not read or watch the news? Or even gossip?
The interview was done in light of the “white on black” killings in the US.
“I think people forget that we’ve lived in the White House for six years,” Michelle said. “Before that, Barack Obama was a black man that lived on the South Side of Chicago, who had his share of troubles catching cabs.”
So, Obama has also been mistaken for the waiter, the coffee boy and a valet. Well done, Sir.
