If you haven’t caught on to the amazingness that is coconut water, then I really feel for you. It’s the only thing that is keeping me going this summer. It fixes any trace of a hangover that I may have, and my skin is glowing. No – SERIOUSLY!
Whilst some might call this the “coconut water fad”, you should get your facts straight before making your decision to be non-conformist.
First of all, coconut water hydrates like a mo-fo. It contains all the right sugars, potassium and a bit of sodium to make a complete and perfect electrolyte-rich solution to quench your thirst.
In fact, it’s so good for you and so pure, that World War II soldiers were given it via intravenous drips down in the south Pacific when saline solution was scarce. It’s true – see here for that and other incredible coconut water facts. Coconut water does a whole lot of other things, too: it reduces blood pressure, has antibacterial properties, helps with good cholesterol and facilitates digestion.
Fast forward to the present, though, and doctors probably won’t be prescribing it in drips at the Vincent Palotti (apparently they still do in some third world countries), but they DO say it’s the best thing for dehydration.
We’ve been drinking CocoFina coconut water for the past few weeks and I am pretty sure that’s why we are the happiest bunch of people on the planet. You should get some for yourself for the summer (not only for hydration, but to make awesome cocktails also).
There are a few different coconut waters on the market so make sure you get the right one.
The wrong ones are HORRIFIC!
