Base Jumper Took This Pic From Spot Where He Slipped Off And Died

This could just be the saddest photo ever taken...Base Jumper Gareth Jones lived on the edge most of his life, so it is probably appropriate that his last view was from the edge too...

This is scary. Almost haunting….

Gareth Jones, the 25-year-old British Base jumper, who fell off a cliff and died while viewing the sunrise with friends at a bushland lookout in the beachside suburb of Manly, Sydney, posted a final pic of himself with his legs dangling over the edge from which he apparently slipped.

Alongside an image posted on his Instagram page two days before he died, Jones wrote the caption: “Another day another happy place”.

Jones, a Cambridge graduate from Brighton, was a well-known Base jumper who had completed 500 leaps off landmarks, buildings and peaks across Europe, Asia and Australia.

Inspector Craig Wonders told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph that “the death of Mr Jones is being thoroughly investigated on behalf of the Coroner”.

Jones is said to have regularly posted images of his jumps across the world. And now he has tragically captured the view of his impending fall to his death.

The only solace one can take in a situation like this, is that he died doing what he loved.
