Sony actually received warnings about the hack-attack three days before it happened. The email was sent to the CEO, Michael Lynton, and Chairman, Amy Pascal.
It is written in “broken English” and warns of “great damage”. It then asks for “monetary compensation” to avoid said damage.
It was originally thought that the hackers are North Korean, but there is no proof as yet, with more evidence pointing away from that idea. On Monday, however, Sony received another message saying “stop immediately showing the movie of terrorism which can break the regional peace and cause the war!” which once again points toward the Seth Rogen and James Franco’s movie, The Interview.
