There are always those moments that end up capturing the love that humans hold. Remember this pic from the Vancouver riots in 2011?

Well, it’s been done again.

Amidst the incredible racial tension storming through the US state of Missouri (and the rest of the US), something arose to restore just a little bit of hope and faith…

This beautiful photograph, taken by Johnny Nguyen, shows Portland Police Sergeant Bret Barnum and 12-year-old Devonte Hart hugging it out.

Hart was standing at a rally protesting against the decision given to Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Michael Brown. Sgt. Bret Barnum noticed Hart, holding a “Free Hugs” sign and crying, and went over to the boy.

Hart’s mother said it was “one of the most emotionally charged experiences I’ve had as a mother”.
